Grenadine ties have long set the bar for neckwear, occupying superlative rankings for elegance, breathability, heritage styling, and textile construction.
But what sets them apart? Their magic is in the fabric! Grenadine is unlike any other fabric available on the market thanks to its incredibly complex jacquard weave.
Notably, it's beautifully textured and features a distinctly open construction.
The gossamer appearance not only adds dimension and visual appeal, but it also breathes wonderfully.
As it turns out, only two fabric mills in the world have the capability to create proper Grenadine.
Ours comes from Fermo Fossati, which is located just outside of Como, Italy.
Founded in 1871, Fermo Fossati is the oldest silk fabric mill in Italy, and third oldest in the world.
Their Grenadine looms are rather old as well, dating back to the early 1900's.
Their production processes are slow and meticulous, and ensure that each yard of fabric is executed to the highest degree.
Of course, great fabric requires equally great fabrication.
Our neckwear workshop in North Carolina, USA specializes in hand-crafted ties, meaning no machinery is used in the entire production process.
Our team is armed solely with scissors, needles, thread, and an iron.
More than a hundred stitches are used to create the lifeline of the tie, giving it a perfect drape while allowing the fabric to settle with each wear.
We've also added a complex hand-crocheted bar tack at the top and bottom of the tie for an added touch of luxury.
Finally, the tips of the tie are hand rolled and sewn shut, a scrupulous process that gives each tie a unique finish.
