DESCRIPTION
- Our ongoing partnership with the estate of Alexander Girard continues into our SS25 collection with June, a print that Girard originally designed in 1964 during his tenure as the Head of Fabric and Textile Division at Herman Miller.
- More than 60 years later, June serves as a prime example of Girard's masterful graphic work.
- Like many of Girard's prints, June takes inspiration from Girard's life.
- While working at Herman Miller in Zeeland, Michigan, he developed a particular affinity for the area's wild poppy fields, which notably come into bloom during June.
- Here, Girard renders a poppy field with fluorescent red flowers, dark turquoise stalks, and a subtle cream ground.
- To continue Girard’s emphasis of quality craftsmanship, we had June meticulously reengineered by our Italian partner mill on a summer-weight 100% cotton poplin.
- Each color was matched to its original Pantone, and extra care was taken to ensure pigments hold fast and resist bleeding.
- This is the first time June has been printed on clothing.
