- With its snug, close-to-body fit and tight mock turtleneck, it was designed to combat the coldest weather conditions during naval operations.
- Standard issue for Navy personnel upon enlistment, this high-gauge wool jersey was commonly referred to in the 1940s simply as a “jersey.” It was worn as a close-fitting underlayer beneath the uniform, providing essential warmth without added bulk thanks to its fine-knit construction.
