- This Oxford shirt is dyed using cherry blossoms from Daigo-ji Temple in Kyoto, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
- The pink warp threads are dyed with color extracted from these cherry blossoms.
- About the “Daigo-ji Cherry Blossoms”Known since the Heian period as a prime cherry blossom viewing spot, Daigo-ji is home to around 700 cherry trees, including weeping cherry, Somei Yoshino, wild cherry, and double-flowered varieties.It is also famously associated with Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who held an extravagant cherry blossom viewing party here in his later years—an event known as “Daigo no Hanami.”

- As the name suggests—“botanical” (plants) and “dye”—this method uses color extracted from various natural sources such as plants, flowers, and nuts to dye materials like cotton and wool.
- Unlike conventional plant dyeing, which typically uses only about 20% natural dye and relies heavily on chemicals for color fixation, botanical dye employs a special adhesive to bind natural ingredients directly to the fibers.
