- The dye is made from “fallen petals that have completed their role,” carefully collected by our Kyoto store staff within the temple grounds.
- This process creates a gentle yet richly layered hue that can only be achieved with natural sakura.
- Taizoin’s Cherry Blossoms
- Taizoin, a Zen temple founded in the Muromachi period, is one of Kyoto’s most renowned cherry blossom viewing spots.
- Among them is the iconic 60-year-old weeping cherry tree, “Motonobu no Sakura,” along with many others that paint the temple grounds in a scene reminiscent of a traditional ink painting.
