The AKLAK GRIZZLY JACKET / BLACK, BROWN has been faithfully reproduced to the exacting standards of its 1930 heyday. Made from a tanned horsehide leather with an aniline finish, the iconic fur panelling is made from a soft mouton fur, just like those seen in original vintage pieces. Lining this garment is a wool gun club check cloth, adding a layer of luxury and insulation. The AKLAK GRIZZLY JACKET is a garment with strong ties to styling at the time of the Great Depression. Though the first Grizzly Jacket can actually be traced back to 1910 when it was widely known as a ‘fur blouse’. This early style would differ in that it was constructed with knitted wool collars & cuffs, and a snap closure front; vastly different to the short bodied leather sports jacket we know as the Grizzly Jacket. Over the next 20 years, this iconic piece of American history was refined for a new audience, this would see the fur body and back panel extended to the collar and finished with a full leather sleeve and cuff, as well as a full zip through the front. One of the most defining features of this piece is its half belted waist, this was a new update of the Grizzly jacket that allowed for a more personal fit and an inclusion that’s reminiscent of the belted aviator jackets descent from one-piece flight suit origins. Beaver lamb fur has been used throughout, achieving an era authentic, rich brown colour. Wool rib cuffs have been fixed inside the sleeve for an extra layer of insulation, and comfortable fit.
