Virgil No 4 Suit In Grey Chalk Stripe Plainweave
We always love a chalk stripe suit — it's like a subtler, easier-to-wear take on a pinstripe, without the bootlegger connotations. On this plainweave, which comes from Italy, each stripe is three warp threads wide, which gives the pattern a softly blended, almost blurred look as if it were drawn by a tailor's chalk (hence the name). And it's more versatile than a pinstripe because it can be dressed up or worn in less formal situations. This suit is our No. 4 make, almost fully handmade, which means more time in our Neapolitan tailors' hands... in fact, the jacket alone requires a full ten hours’ worth of tailoring before it leaves the workshop. The shoulder, lining, darts, buttonholes, buttons, and several other elements are sewn by hand, and you can feel it when you put it on. It's almost like the seams move with you. It's cut in our Virgil model, which has a natural shoulder, a 3-roll-2 lapel, and a shorter body with no front darts at all. Think old-school 'sack suit,' but sexier. The trousers, too, are designed to complement the jacket, with a trim-but-not-tight leg that looks great with a cuff. They've also got a dak waistband with adjuster tabs that give the whole suit a more trussed-up look. The Virgil silhouette has a slightly more American feel than the Kincaid or the Landry, but just like all of our tailored clothing, it's designed to take you from Mississippi to Milan — and back again — without looking or feeling out of place.
