They’re our take on the venerable bit loafer style first popularized in the 1950s.
This particular variant is made from a beautiful chrome tanned version of leather, often referred to as a 'pull up' leather.
This style of tanning is known for is rich pigmentation and almost waxy finish that develops a stunning patina with wear.
We make ours a little differently, with a traditional American silhouette that includes a shortened vamp, a sleek sole that’s flexible yet durable, and a subtle heel that’s just the right height.

Cordwainers trained in traditional moccasin construction and sewing techniques make all our loafers by hand in the legendary shoemaking town of Leon, Mexico.
Their generational shoemaking knowledge, paired with our top-quality materials like full-grain leather and suede, ensure Jay Butler loafers are built to fit just right and stand the test of time.

We use US sizes, and our loafers fit true to size compared to most other US-sized dress shoes.
Our shoes are sized as a D width.
Those with wider feet (E or EE) should consider going up half a size.
