Boatbuilder Jacket
Boats and boatbuilding are an inherent part of island living. The Curach, the traditional island boat depicted in our logo, is a unique round bottomed, canoe shaped boat constructed in a frame of laths and staves covered with canvas and tar. Thus creating a lightweight vessel that islanders could carry on their shoulders to the top of the tide, safe from the reach of the sea. An uncle of Áine de Blácam, one of the company founders, was a boatbuilder on the neighbouring island of Inis Orr during the 50s and 60s. New for this season, the Boatbuilder's Jacket is inspired by that craft. Featuring a stylish nehru stand collar to protect from chills and open pockets for small tools, the Jacket has an all-over cardigan rib giving a nod to the traditional Aran Fisherman Sweater. European Masters of Linen quality guarantees European linen of the highest standard and traceability from field to yarn. Available in Teal, a warm petrol shade that pairs equally well with denim jeans, beige chinos, or black linen trousers. Designed, made and hand-finished in our Aran Islands workshop.
