TYPE A-3 MECHANICS CAP | Olive
Adopted in 1942 for the U.S. Army Air Corps, the Type A-3 was the cap worn by aircraft mechanics on flight lines and in hangars across both theatres of the Second World War. In the winter rotation it was paired with a herringbone twill coverall and a sheepskin D-1 jacket. Wartime photographs almost invariably show the brim flipped upward - a practical adjustment that kept it from catching on engine cowlings, fuselage panels and other obstructions inside tight working quarters. 6-Panel crown with structered brim Reinforced taped seams inside the crown USAAF ink stamp on rear panel Size 7 1/4 = M Size 7 1/2 = L BR02536
