Blue Mogganer Whaler Rolled Neck Chunky Sweater
The Whaler Thankfully Whaling is now banned in Britain and our town of Peterhead where it was the main industry before fishing took over. Peterhead Whaleships would travel from the North Sea to the Arctic, enduring the most severe of cold fronts, sea ice and treacherous waters. Inspired by the journey rather than the process of these hardy, industrial voyages, we have developed the Whaler sweater influenced by the clothing worn by these historical seamen. Oilskins were favoured in the main and any knits had a tight insulatory weave. Our Whaler is a 4 ply and densely knitted sweater in the seamless fashion with a shaping that both works well under layers for harsh conditions, and is also flattering on its own. It's relaxed rolled neck and cuffs complement the layered look and the two tone, black and white marl, traditionally known as 'salt and pepper', provides a handknitted feel of vintage perfection.
