When we started development for the Fall/Winter '25 collection, we had been wear-testing an original 1940s N1 Deck Jacket and looked at how we could do it in our own way.
There were a couple things we immediately noticed that we wanted to change.
The alpaca lining was warm…too warm.
And itchy as all hell.
Practical? Absolutely.
But we like our garments to be comfortable, and one of the silly ideas we always consider is: could you wear this comfortably with a t-shirt? Not with alpaca you couldn’t - so we softened it up and opted for a wool/poly pile as the liner.
It also helped keep this from being too expensive.
We also wanted to update the fit and give it a little more room everywhere while still maintaining the boxier fit.
And in order to make the jacket feel as worn is as our originals, we garment dyed and washed down the jacket so comes with some developed wear right out of the box.
We kept all the OG details we loved; the asymmetrical button flap closure over the zip front, the herringbone tape on the throat latch edges, the hidden elastic cuffs, the reinforced collar details, and even the waist drawstrings.
This jacket is still every bit as practical as the originals, just a bit more us.
