The MOLESKIN RANCH COAT, often referred to as a “ranch coat” for its origins on the open range, was originally designed as cold-weather workwear for cowboys and ranch hands.
By the 1960s, it had been widely adopted by the general public and produced by many manufacturers, becoming a common winter garment across the country.
While most vintage examples from that era featured acrylic linings, this version is fully lined with wool for greater warmth and a more substantial feel.
The design is inspired by the cropped ranch coats famously worn by Bob Dylan in the early 1960s, including on the cover of his 1962 debut album.
The MOLESKIN RANCH COAT is made from durable cotton moleskin fabric and lined with warm wool pile.
The construction uses cotton sewing thread throughout and is finished with natural nut buttons.
