Following the popularity of the down jacket in the 1930s, the COTTON/NYLON DOWN VEST appeared in the 1950s as a lightweight alternative with improved mobility.
The COTTON/NYLON DOWN VEST takes inspiration from the original jacket, with initial development dating back to the 1940s.
It was custom-built for a team of American expeditioners attempting to climb K2 (The Savage Mountain) in 1953.
By removing the sleeves and hood from the jacket, the vest maintained similar heat retention capabilities while allowing for improved mobility.
The Cotton/Nylon Down Vest features a durable outer shell made from 60% cotton and 40% nylon, complemented by a 100% nylon rip-stop lining for added durability.
Insulated with premium French duck down, this vest offers optimal warmth.
Additional details include nylon ribbing and a 50s square front zipper with a brass finish.
