Roo belt plaiting was a traditional Australian bushcraft yet to be fully revived.
They offer a beautifully refined slice of our Australian bush heritage, they are characterful and charmingly unique.
As far as we know these are the only locally and traditionally hand-cut and plaited belts available.
Kangaroo leather has the strongest tensile strength for it's thickness of any leather and yet is remarkably soft and supple.
This is a sensitive craft requiring mastery and time.
It takes a minimum of 8 hours to hand-plait each strap.
Temperature and humidity affect the leather's behaviour and tensioning changes whilst working the leather, so oiling needs to be carefully managed across the plaiting process to keep the belt straight and even.
Hand-plaited from 17 hand-cut strands of kangaroo leather.
