The very first appearance of the word “blazer” appeared in the Cambridge University General Almanack and Register for 1852 as a descriptor for the blazing red rowing coats worn by the Lady Margaret Boat Club of St.
John's College.
Early club blazers were
made in bright colors and often tipped with contrasting ribbon in team colors, the better to identify the crews on the sometimes-distant water.
This sporting tradition continues to thrive today and our natty Navy Tipped Club Blazer would be authentically at home not only at any race or regatta but at any festive occasion --whether on land or water-- that you may find yourself invited to.
