DESCRIPTION
  • Boats and boatbuilding are an inherent part of island living.
  • The Curach, the traditional island boat depicted in our logo, is a unique round bottomed, canoe shaped boat constructed in a frame of laths and staves covered with canvas and tar.
  • Thus creating a lightweight vessel that islanders could carry on their shoulders to the top of the tide, safe from the reach of the sea.
  • An uncle of Áine de Blácam, one of the company founders, was a boatbuilder on the neighbouring island of Inis Orr during the 50s and 60s.
  • New for this season, the Boatbuilder's Jacket is inspired by that craft.
  • Featuring a stylish nehru stand collar to protect from chills and open pockets for small tools, the Jacket has an all-over cardigan rib giving a nod to the traditional Aran Fisherman Sweater.
  • European Masters of Linen quality guarantees European linen of the highest standard and traceability from field to yarn.
  • Available in Teal, a warm petrol shade that pairs equally well with denim jeans, beige chinos, or black linen trousers.
  • Designed, made and hand-finished in our Aran Islands workshop.
